Star Princess is visiting as part of a 'Wine Country Coastal' cruise
Star Princess's late-season arrival on Oct. 20 is 'a great boost' for Central Vancouver Island communities, said Bernie Dumas, president and ceo, Nanaimo Port Authority.

The ship is scheduled to visit from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. as part of a seven-night 'Wine Country Coastal' cruise that begins in Vancouver on Tuesday and also calls at Seattle, Astoria (Oregon) and San Francisco en route to Los Angeles.

In Nanaimo passengers can take excursions to the Alberni and Cowichan valleys including the Parksville-Qualicum area. Tourism Nanaimo greeters will be at the cruise terminal, pointing the way to photo opportunities with Royal Canadian Mounted Police in red serge and the 'Big Tub' and displays of racing tubs from the Loyal Nanaimo Bathtub Society.

Cannon firings at the historic Bastion are scheduled for 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m.
