Sture Myrmell will continue to be responsible for hotel operations in his new role as svp P&O Cruises Australia
Sture Myrmell has been appointed svp for P&O Cruises Australia, replacing Tammy Marshall who leaves the company next month.

Myrmell, who was based in Los Angeles as director of hotel operations for Princess Cruises, took up the newly-created position of vp hotel operations for P&O Cruises Australia in 2008. He will continue to be responsible for hotel operations in his new role.

Marshall was appointed to the newly-created position of svp in October 2012 after nine years with The Travel Corporation in Australia where she headed up Contiki Holidays, AAT Kings and Inspiring Journeys.

She was also made responsible for Complete Cruise Solution, now World’s Leading Cruise Lines, the trade marketing umbrella for Carnival Australia that covers P&O Cruises Australia, Princess Cruises, Carnival Cruise Line, Cunard, P&O Cruises World Cruising, Holland America Line and Seabourn.

Under the reshuffle, Peter Little has been promoted to the expanded role of svp fleet operations. Little, formerly Carnival UK’s fleet technical manager, became vp fleet operations for P&O Cruises Australia in November 2008 -- another newly-created position.

At the time Carnival Australia ceo Ann Sherry said Little’s appointment was the final chapter in bringing the company’s hotel and fleet operations in-house after being managed by Princess Cruises from the United States.

Sherry said the reshuffle sees Carnival Australia more closely aligned with the Holland America Group.

She paid tribute to Marshall for repositioning the P&O Cruises Australia brand and preparing it for the arrival of former Holland America Line ships -- Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden -- in November.

‘Tammy’s time at Carnival Australia has seen the addition of capacity, the development of regional ports, the surge in short-break cruising and the groundbreaking transition from onboard buffets to pantry-style food court dining,’ she said.
