Harri Kulovaara, evp maritime for Royal Caribbean, places one of the lucky coins
STX France laid the keel for Royal Caribbean International's fourth Oasis-class vessel during a ceremony at the St. Nazaire yard.

A 1,000-ton block measuring 32 feet by 154 feet (10 meters by 47 meters) was lifted by crane into the building dock. For good luck, newly minted coins were placed under the keel and will stay there until the end of the ship’s construction.

Once the newbuild is near to completion, the coins will be retrieved and presented to the ship’s captain and crew to be placed on board the ship.

Still to be named, the fourth Oasis-class ship will be delivered in spring 2017.
