Celebrity Edge tastes water for the first time, with seven tugboats standing by
One of the year's most anticipated new ships and Celebrity Cruises' first new design in more than 10 years, Celebrity Edge was floated out of the building dock at STX France.

Seven tugboats were on hand to assist.

Celebrity president and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo called it 'truly an exciting moment for our brand.'

With exterior construction now complete, the attention turns to bringing to life the interior venues and accommodations of what Celebrity deems a 'transformational' ship.

Celebrity Edge will spend its inaugural season sailing alternating seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruises from Port Everglades before repositioning to the Mediterranean with a range of seven- to 11-night sailings from cities like Barcelona and Rome (Civitavecchia) in 2019. Two cruises will leave from Southampton.

The Port Everglades debut cruise is set for Nov. 21, an earlier date than originally planned. And the ship is already scheduled for a second Caribbean season in 2019/20.

Celebrity Edge will be joined by three sisters in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
