Xiamen homeport for new cross Strait cruises
Star Cruises’ Superstar Libra will sail regular cruises to Taiwan from China’s Xiamen port from July 24, according to the Fujian-Xiaman Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau.

The 42,285gt vessel will depart from Xiamen port every Friday through to the end of October.

Meanwhile, China’s State Council has issued a revised policy to ease the travelling hassle for Chinese citizens entering Taiwan. It said from the start of July, the travelling pass for Chinese citizens entering Taiwan has been extended to 10 years from five years.

The revised policy is expected to help boost the number of cruise passengers as Xiamen International Cruise Terminal embarks on further modernising and developing its cruise terminal.

The government of Xiamen has earmarked RMB18bn ($3bn) and set aside a land space of close to 100 hectares to expand the cruise terminal, with projected completion by 2018.
