Last year Tadoussac welcomed over 1,000 cruise passengers on four ships representing a three-fold increase in visitors, informs Simon Grenier, economic development officer, municipality of Tadoussac.
In addition to Ponant’s Le Boreal and Hapag Lloyd’s Europa, Tadoussac - which claims to be the oldest French settlement in North America - also welcomed Hamburg on an unscheduled call as the vessel had experienced bad weather whilst cruising in the Acrtic and the captain opted for a stop in Tadoussac, renowned as a whale watching destination.
The future is also looking bright says Grenier, with nine calls scheduled in 2015.
