Some 778,000 passengers are projected, an increase of 7.8% compared to the 772,000 in 2014. Revenue generated from the cruise sector is expected to reach TWD35.5bn ($1.1bn) this year.
In the first half of 2015, Taiwan has already welcomed close to 460,000 cruisers.
A report from Taiwan International Ports Corp. (TIPC) pointed out that the global cruise market is expected to rise to 22.3m this year, with the Asian share accounting for 2.2m of that.
A senior TIPC official was reported saying international cruise ship calls at Taiwanese ports have increased in recent years, and the numbers are anticipating to continue climbing in 2016.
Taiwan's key cruise ports are Keelung, the leader, and Taichung, Kaohsiung and Hualien.
From the four Taiwanese international cruise ports, cross-strait routes accounted for 76% of the market and Japan cruises 15%.
