Ted Blamey has completed the most comprehensive report on cruising in the Pacific
Extensive research and analysis undertaken by Sydney-based CHART Management Consultants provides the foundation for the Pacific Regional Cruise Development Strategy due to be completed in November.

The PRCDS will enable individual Pacific Island countries to develop their cruise tourism strategies and assist stakeholders to determine appropriate investments in infrastructure.

CHART principal Ted Blamey’s Pacific Cruise Market Research and Intelligence report, funded by the European Union and supported by CLIA Australasia, has ‘amply fulfilled’ its three objectives according to the South Pacific Tourism Organisation’s ceo, Ilisoni Vuidreketi.

Vuidreketi said it provides essential information and analysis on capacity, source markets, destinations and the challenges of operating in the region.

Secondly, he said, it will help Pacific Island countries to understand how the cruise industry works and what facilities and services need to be provided and thirdly it will help them benefit from the growth and success of cruise tourism.

American Samoa, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Caledonia, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Timor Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu will benefit from the 108-page CHART report.

The report has been distributed to SPTO members and people interested in receiving a copy are advised to contact Vuidreketi’s office ( [email protected]).
