Calm, soothing and tranquil - the goal for Princess Luxury Bed linen designer Candice Olson
The new Princess Luxury Bed, developed by Princess Cruises in collaboration with a sleep expert and an HGTV designer, will be rolled out fleetwide through 2018. That is more than 44,000 new beds, going into every stateroom.

The collaborators are Dr. Michael Breus, 'The Sleep Doctor,' and designer Candice Olson, star of the hit HGTV shows 'Candice Tells All' and 'Divine Design.'

Developed exclusively for the cruise line by the (unnamed) manufacturer of some of the most well-known and comfortable hotel beds in the world, the new Princess Luxury Bed features a plush, two-inch thick pillow top, a nine-inch, single-sided medium firm mattress for enhanced support, individually wrapped coils for less partner disturbance, a European-inspired duvet and Jacquard-woven cotton linens.

Passengers in full suites can select from an expanded Dr. Breus pillow menu.

Princess cited a survey by Wakefield Research that found more than half of Americans (57%) get less sleep than they need and 59% frequently struggle to sleep well when on vacation.

'We’re committed to ensuring that our guests come back from their cruise vacation feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and renewed,' Princess president Jan Swartz said.

Princess worked closely with Breus, a clinical psychologist, the best-selling author of two sleep books and former official sleep representative of WebMD. He regularly appears on 'Dr. Oz.'

Designer Olson was tapped to ensure the bed makes an immediate visual impact as passengers enter their stateroom. She said her goal for creating the linen set for Princess was a bed that is calm, soothing and tranquil.
