Tobago orders 50 buses to supplement tour operations
The Tobago House of Assembly is ordering 50 new buses to address the rising demand for shore excursions as cruise traffic increases to the southern Caribbean island.

This is part of several initiatives to improve tourism, along with on-going guide training and developing new products, according to Tourism Secretary Tracy Davidson-Celestine.

The buses—of 28, 36 and 50 seats, some equipped for disabled users—are to be delivered from Brazil in several shipments prior to the start of November's cruise season.

'Our cruise traffic has increased. There is a commitment to expanding, improving and modernizing [ground] transportation,' said Henry Yaniz, Tobago's Miami-based cruise development consultant.

Next month Tobago will host the Seatrade Caribbean Cruise Forum. The May 13-14 event is tailored to showcase the southern Caribbean to European cruise planners.
