Fincantieri's Castellammare di Stabia launched the bow section for Sky Princess from a traditional inclined slipway during a ceremony Thursday.

The bow section is approximately 426 feet long, 141 feet wide, 82 feet high and weighs about 7,600 tons.

It will now be transported by sea to Monfalcone, where it will be assembled with the rest of the ship being constructed by Fincantieri. Sky Princess is scheduled to debut in October 2019 on a series of Mediterranean voyages.

The 143,700gt, 3,660-berth ship is the fourth in the Royal class, following Royal Princess, Regal Princess and Majestic Princess.

'The shipbuilding process is truly something to marvel and each completed milestone is something to celebrate,' said Rai Caluori, EVP guest experience and product development, Princess Cruises.

Sky Princess's inaugural Mediterranean deployment features 10 departures of eight itineraries. The first is a seven-day 'Mediterranean & Adriatic' cruise from Piraeus to Barcelona departing Oct. 20, 2019.

This voyage is combinable with a seven-day Mediterranean Barcelona to Civitavecchia (Rome) voyage for a 14-day Inaugural 'Western Mediterranean & Adriatic Medley' from Athens to Rome.
