Viking Spirit's 93-day 'circle Pacific' route, from Auckland to Vancouver
Viking Cruises will branch out to sail in the Far East and Australia/New Zealand in late 2018 through early 2019 and then in Alaska in summer 2019, chairman Torstein Hagen announced Saturday.

The newbuild Viking Spirit will operate the itineraries.

Initially the ship will sail Bangkok-Hong Kong and Sydney-Auckland cruises. In February 2019, Viking Spirit will sail a 'circle Pacific' route from Auckland via Sydney, Bali, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Yokohama and Seward, ending in Vancouver, BC, 93 days later.

'Many of our guests like long cruises,' Hagen said.

Viking's first world cruise, for example, stretches 141 days from Miami to London or 120 days from Los Angeles to London, and is not being sold in segments. It is 83% booked, Hagen said, adding that 74% of the voyage sold within a month of sales opening. The world cruise will be operated by Viking Sun and embarks Dec. 15, 2017, from Miami or Jan. 4, 2018, from Los Angeles.

The new Viking Spirit itineraries in the Far East, Australia/New Zealand and Alaska are not yet open for booking.
