In the first news of Viking Ocean Cruises' deployment beyond Europe, the line will operate in Canada/New England in autumn 2016, a company official said Tuesday. Ten-day New York-Québec City sailings are planned.

Viking's Nicolai Skogland, port operations manager, told the Canada/New England Cruise Symposium in Bar Harbor the company plans calls at L'Anse aux Meadows; Newfoundland; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Gaspé, Baie-Comeau and Saguenay on the Saint Lawrence in Québec; Portland, Maine; Boston; and Newport, Rhode Island.

A repositioning voyage to Québec City and three cruises are planned.

Viking is expected to make its maiden call at New York City on Oct. 12, 2016.
