Viking Ocean ships rendezvous for the first time
Viking Ocean Cruises' two ships had their first meeting in port when Viking Star and Viking Sea rendezvoused in Santorini Thursday.

Viking Star was sailing from Istanbul to Venice on an 'Empires of the Mediterranean' itinerary, while the recently delivered Viking Sea was heading in the opposite direction, toward Istanbul, where the first passengers will embark April 3. From Istanbul, Viking Sea will make its way through the Mediterranean and into the Atlantic on the way for its May 5 christening at Greenwich on the Thames River.

Viking Sea then will spend the summer sailing Scandinavia and Baltic routes, along with Viking Star. The 930-passenger sister vessels are virtually identical.

'It is hard to believe that less than one year ago, we were just setting sail with our first ship, and now we have two sister ships together,' Viking chairman Torstein Hagen said. 'It is a proud day, and I am already looking forward to next year when we will have three ships to cross paths.'
