Windstar ushers in Star Breeze during Nice festivities

Windstar Cruises
Wednesday's naming ceremony in Nice
At a christening ceremony in Nice, Windstar Cruises introduced Star Breeze, its second new all-suite power yacht. Travel influencer Wendy Perrin served as the godmother at a celebration prior to the inaugural cruise through France, Monaco and Italy.

Wendy Perrin, TripAdvisor's first 'travel advocate' and the founder of WendyPerrin.com, broke a bottle of champagne over the bow in front of 250 guests, media, trade partners and representatives of Windstar parent company Xanterra Parks & Resorts.

Perrin was joined on stage by Windstar ceo Hans Birkholz, Capt. Krasimir Ivanov and Father Jean Marie.

'The driving force to Windstar’s success is our unwavering commitment of providing a personal, yacht-style vacation. Our ships are small, our ambience casually elegant, our service personal,' Birkholz said.

The 212-passenger yacht joins the fleet after an $8.5m, three-week renovation in Genoa. The former Seabourn ship received a stem to stern transformation, including overhauls of every public space, dining venues and suites.

After its inaugural voyage, Star Breeze will continue to cruise in the Mediterranean for the summer season. Following an ocean crossing in the fall, the ship will embark on Windstar’s newest Caribbean itinerary, 'Icons of the Dutch Caribbean,' before sailing in Panama and Costa Rica for the winter season.
