More cruise ships and passengers than ever before visited Xiamen in southern China in the first quarter of 2019, according to the latest statistics from China's Ministry of Transport.

Xiamen international cruise homeport received 32 cruise calls and 89,300 passengers, a huge increase of 433% and 283% year-on-year.

The port completed an upgrade earlier this month, enabling the berthing of cruise ships up to 225,000gt.

World Dream welcomed

On April 15, Dream Cruises' World Dream called at Xiamen as the largest ship to berth since the expansion was completed.

The city is also developing more products to attract cruise visitors and enhancing its tourism promotion in overseas markets.
