AIDAvita will undergo work between March 25 and April 4
AIDA Cruises has scheduled a major upgrade for AIDAvita at Bremerhaven-based Lloyd Werft between March 25 and April 4.

Along with regular refurbishment work, several spaces of the ship are going to receive a makeover preparing AIDAvita for future deployment under AIDA's recently launched 'AIDA Selection' programme.

Work includes the conversion of the teen lounge Waikiki on Deck 10 into a new Beach Lounge. The Seaside Lounges astern will be fitted with wind shields and heaters, while Anytime Bar and Ocean Bar on Deck 7 will get new furniture.

The pool area will be thoroughly refurbished, including a new seating arrangement at the Pool Grill. Eventually, Gourmet Restaurant Rossini will be converted into a new Selection Restaurant, and the Photo Shop will be extended.

Some 2,500sq mtr of carpeting throughout AIDAvita's public spaces will be replaced.

The contract value of AIDAvita's upgrade has not been disclosed, but Seatrade Cruise News understands it amounts to a seven-digit figure.

Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven is going through a difficult restructuring including a massive staff reduction to about 260 employees after 117 workers accepted an offer for a redundancy pay-out during the past weeks.

The 117 staff will see their employment transferred to an outplacement company in April.
