Aurora has returned to service following a multi-million-pound refurbishment as P&O Cruises newest adult-only ship.

The ship returned from a 16-day refit from Brest, France, before embarking on a 16-night Portugal, Canary Islands and Azores cruise from homeport of Southampton, which earlier this year saw completion of the first phase of a multi-million-pound upgrade to its Ocean Cruise Terminal.

The refurbishment included 23 new cabins on deck 8, refreshed suites with new furniture, carpet, curtains, soft furnishings and bathroom fittings including Aurora’s two-level penthouse suites.

Public areas were modernised with contemporary designs and fresh updates.

Contemporary new look for Oasis Spa

The Oasis Spa was given a contemporary new look including refurbished treatment rooms, thermal suite and steam room.

The Glass House has been remodelled with updated decor, new tables, artwork and soft furnishings. Other venues onboard the ship including Anderson’s, Carmen’s, Charlie’s, Masquerade and Raffles have been upgraded with new carpets, soft furnishings and furniture.

Deck area updates include new poolside furniture and mosaic tiling at the Riviera and Crystal pools and bar areas.

Public spaces including the atrium and main dining rooms have been re-carpeted.  There will also be a six month roll out of new mattresses, for all cabins.

P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: ‘We continually invest in all of our ships. We are sure that Aurora’s contemporary refresh will delight all who sail on her.’
