Gibdock bags another brace of cruise ship repairs
Much of Gibdock's workload this month centres around cruise repair and refurbishment contracts. Pullmantur's Zenith docked on Monday for a 12 day stay which includes replacement of four onboard chillers and installation of associated PVC and non-PVC piping in the engine room and forepeak within the ship's bow. Some steel replacement work will also be undertaken.

This project requires Gibdock to drill two holes in the floor of its drydock to allow the two rudders of Zenith to be dropped out. 'Not many yards would go to such lengths,' said Richard Beards, the yard's commercial director, 'but it shows our flexibility,' he added.

Another cruise caller is Thomson Destiny, this is the third time that owner Louis Cruises has docked the vessel in the Gibraltar yard, on this ocassion for a routine docking and minor repair and refurb works.

'Pullmantur and Louis Cruises are both repeat customers and the docking of these two vessels is further evidence that we are gaining the confidence of regional cruise ship operators,' remarked Beards.
