Multimillion-dollar makeover for Sun Princess

Multimillion-dollar makeover for Sun Princess
Enhancements to Sun Princess during her scheduled multimillion-dollar refurbishment currently underway at the Forgacs Cairncross Dockyard in Brisbane include the installation of a giant screen for Princess Cruises’ trademark Movies Under the Stars.

The refit will include an upgraded spa, a Sanctuary and new carpet and upholstery.

Sun Princess, which became the first Princess Cruises ship to be permanently based in Australia when she arrived in Sydney in October 2007, sails from Brisbane to Fremantle on April 29.

The 77,000gt liner will move to Brisbane late 2011 for an inaugural cruise season from the Queensland capital.

In a statement issued today, Princess Cruises president Alan Buckelew said the company has had ‘great feedback’ since introducing Movies Under the Stars and the child-free Sanctuary to its other resident ship, Dawn Princess, last year.

‘Australia’s warmer climate means passengers enjoy a lot of time on deck so Movies Under the Stars and the Sanctuary are ideal additions to our ships Down Under,’ Buckelew said.
