National Geographic Explorer to undergo three week technical work at Lloyd Werft

National Geographic Explorer to undergo three week technical work at Lloyd Werft
Lindblad Expedition’s 112mtr long National Geographic Explorer is due to arrive at Lloyd Werft tomorrow for a first visit to the Bremerhaven facility.

During a three-week stay, the ship will undergo comprehensive technical work mainly repairs to the thruster, rudder and shaft plant and class renewal of the ice-class ship for Det Norske Veritas.

‘This contract is just right for us’, said a satisfied Rüdiger Pallentin, board member of Lloyd Werft. He sees the first visit of  the expedition ship as a dry run for further possible orders, particularly since the shipping company has a second ship of similar design, he remarked.

After a 2008 conversion, Lindblad Expeditions put the 6,471gt ship with 81 cabins mainly into Arctic and Antarctic cruising.
