P&O Cruises Australia’s 1,512-passenger Pacific Eden sails from Singapore Thursday for the Far North Queensland city of Cairns to homeport there.

Pacific Eden, Holland America Line’s former Statendam, has undergone a 12-day multimillion-dollar refurbishment at the Sembcorp Marine Admiralty Yard.

Its Marquee Show Lounge has been fitted out in a dramatic black, white and emerald green colour scheme and the popular night spot The Dome has been updated in nautical blue and white.

The ship will arrive in Cairns on August 24, after calls at Bali, Lombok, Komodo, Dili and Darwin, and will turn around for a nine-night ‘New Guinea Islands’ return cruise.

She will operate another nine round voyages from Cairns, including several to the Solomon Islands, until she sails on a repositioning cruise to Sydney on November 6 via Hamilton Island.

‘Since Pacific Aria (HAL’s former Ryndam) and Pacific Eden underwent their extensive transformation in 2015, we’ve strived to build a reputation as a modern Australian cruise line that provides memorable holidays in a unique setting,’ president Sture Myrmell said.

‘A key part of that process is to deliver a stylish, modern look and feel across the public spaces and produce venues that would be more at home in a high-end resort than on a cruise ship,’ Myrmell said.

‘The Marquee Show Lounge and The Dome are two of Pacific Eden’s most popular venues and the new upgrades will continue to push the boundaries on our designs and what passengers can continue to expect from our fleet.’
