Rotterdam set for Signature of Excellence upgrade

Rotterdam set for Signature of Excellence upgrade
When Holland America Line’s Rotterdam embarks on seven-day round-trips from Seattle to Alaska next spring, the ship will be refreshed with Signature of Excellence upgrades, including a new category of lanai staterooms.

‘These and the ship’s verandah suites increase guests’ opportunities for viewing Hubbard Glacier and the Inside Passage as they cruise,’ said HAL’s Rick Meadows, evp marketing, sales, and guest programs.

Under HAL’s $525m Signature of Excellence program, the Rotterdam gains 39 lanai staterooms, created by replacing existing stateroom windows on Lower Promenade Deck 6 with lanai doors that open directly onto the walk-around promenade.

The ship also adds 23 new spa staterooms, offering a variety of spa amenities, on its Verandah Deck.

All Rotterdam staterooms and bathrooms will receive new décor and furnishings.

Public areas will add The Retreat, a resort pool feature; the Showroom at Sea, a new nightclub concept; and Mix, a venue comprised of three bars: Martinis, Champagne and Spirits & Ales. Canaletto, a casual Italian restaurant, will also be installed on the ship.

The work will be carried out at Grand Bahama Shipyard.
