The rebuild entailed the electrical system, plumbing, power plant, bridge and staterooms.
Scenic Cruises promises superior service and an all-inclusive approach. Fares include sightseeing tours, enrichment experiences, private concerts, gratuities, airport transfers, and wine, beer and soda during dinner. The staff is English-speaking and the vessel carries a doctor.
The 2012 season offers 15-day sailings between St. Petersburg and Moscow. Five deluxe land tours are available, ranging from a total of 19 days when adding four days in Kiev, to a 33-day adventure that adds the exploration of the Ukraine and Scandinavia.
Departures run from March through October. The 15-day discounted fares range from $7,295 to $10,885 per person, double occupancy.
‘We are incredibly excited to be able to bring the same level of luxury to the Russian rivers that we have introduced on the European rivers,’ said Janice Tully, US brand manager for Scenic Cruises.
The ‘Imperial Jewels of Russia’ cruise includes five days to explore St. Petersburg, in included tours. The program includes guided explorations of Svirstroy, a quaint, historic village; Petrozavodsk for a Karelian folk show; Kizhi Island, one of Russia’s most ancient sites; the medieval village of Goritsy with its 600-year-old monastery; and Uglich, which dates to the 10th century. The cruise ends with four days of touring in Moscow.
The five optional add-on programs include such choices as four nights in Kiev, Ukraine’s capital, for a 19-day program, and a 27-day option that begins with a three-day stay in Berlin, two days in Warsaw and the rest of the time on land split among Vilnius, Riga, Tallinn and Helsinki.
Longer adventures are a 29-day Scandinavia offering with Copenhagen, Oslo, Bergen, Balestrand, Geiranger, Lillehammer, Stockholm and Helsinki; a 31-day combination of the cruise with Kiev, Berlin and the Baltic states; and a 33-day offering that adds four days in Kiev to the 29-day program. The 29-, 31- and 33-day options are offered in both directions.
Scenic Cruises operates five ‘Space-Ships’ that sail throughout Europe on seven- to 21-night itineraries.
