Splendour heads to five-week docking
Splendour of the Seas entered the Navantia shipyard in Cadiz, Spain to begin a five-week long, $35m drydock that will add 124 balconies and amenities as part of Royal Caribbean International’s Royal Advantage program.

The changes include dining venues: Chops Grille, Izumi, the Boardwalk Dog House, Chef’s Table and the Park Café; the Royal Babies and Tots Nursery, a Diamond lounge for Crown and Anchor loyalty members, a Concierge Lounge for suite passengers and upgraded technology throughout.

In addition to the new balconies, staterooms will get flat-panel televisions and other updates. Further features being added include ship-wide Wi-Fi, a digital way-finding system, electronic mustering and an outdoor movie screen.

Royal Caribbean said it will detail further enhancements in the coming weeks.

Upon completion of the refurbishments on Nov. 25, Splendour of the Seas will sail a trans-Atlantic voyage from Lisbon to its seasonal homeport of Santos, Brazil.
