UK-based outfitter Trimline said it overcame many technical challenges to create the new 'uber-cool' Blue Room, where musicians perform nightly, aboard P&O Cruises Australia's Pacific Explorer.

Other areas Trimline transformed include The Bonded Store with its secret entrance, Shark Shack, Turtle Cove, future cruise sales, the photo gallery, HQ, HQ+, Black Circus (a dinner/cabaret show venue), The Homeware Store, The Lawn Bowls, Elemis at Sea, elevator lobbies and stairwells.

Overall, Trimline contributed to the 'modern Australian' style in many areas of the ship.

The former Dawn Princess was converted in a 12-day drydock at Sembcorp Marine Admiralty Yard in Singapore and began sailing for P&O Cruises Australia last month.

Nicolas Lagesse, hotel assets director - technical services for Carnival Australia, thanked Trimline for its contribution in making the Pacific Explorer hotel project so successful. 'The team effort was superb and the end result fantastic,' he said.

The interior designers added that after 18 months of work the product that was delivered is 'exactly what we hoped to achieve.'

'The Trimline team did a great job to overcome technical challenges and deliver the project on time, to budget and to the usual high standards for which Trimline is known,' chairman Michael Oliver said. 'We now look forward to bringing the same level of workmanship to Pacific Eden later this month.'
