The former Sea Adventurer, re-engined and modernized, is now called Ocean Adventurer
Polar expedition ship Sea Adventurer has been extensively upgraded at Ulstein Verft and renamed Ocean Adventurer. All main equipment and engines were replaced, and the accommodation capacity was increased.

The ship is owned by Adventurer Partners Ltd. and operated by Quark Expeditions.

'The new and improved Ocean Adventurer is designed to carry 132 travelers in comfort to the most remote corners of the world,' Quark said. Built in Yugoslavia in 1976, this 'nimble, ice-strengthened ship has become a passenger favorite over the years' and underwent refurbishments in 1999 and 2002 before this, the most significant one, Quark added.

Ulstein Verft, which provided engineering for the project, said updating a 40-year-old vessel was complicated. Passenger cabins were updated and upgraded, public areas were rebuilt and modernized and significant technical upgrades were completed, including the installation of new gears, generator and two Rolls-Royce engines.

Six new twin cabins and three new suites were added. Existing accommodations got new bathrooms and all new soft furnishings. The lounge, dining room and bar were remodeled.

'We put together teams across the group to solve the upgrading tasks. We have an experienced workforce that has solved this challenge in a most satisfactory way,' yard manager Kristian Sætre said.
