Freddie Peterson, General Manager at the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) explains the measures put in place to keep attendees to Seatrade Cruise Global 2022 safe.

With Seatrade Cruise Global 2022 just three months away, we spoke to Freddie Peterson, General Manager at the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) about the measures being put in place to keep attendees to the world’s leading Cruise Industry event safe.

The Miami Beach Convention Center, the venue of choice for April’s Seatrade Cruise Global event has received a GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation in recognition of enhanced venue health and safety measures. 

Q. What is required to gain entry into the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC)?
Visitors to the MBCC are required to wear a face covering as per local and center policies. Seatrade Cruise Global will provide face masks to attendees without them.

Q. Is physical distancing required?
A. Miami Beach Convention Center encourage social distancing supported by Seatrade Cruise Global’s non-contact registration process. 

Q. How will the MBCC manage ventilation?  
A. The Miami Beach Convention Center has increased air circulation.

Q. Will the MBCC provide sanitizer stations?
A. Portable and wall-mounted hand sanitizer stations installed throughout the venue, encouraging all participants to regularly wash and disinfect their hands.

Q. What is MBCC’s cleaning regime?
A. Our Cleaning team have been trained to deliver enhanced cleaning. Commonly touched surfaces and high-trafficked areas are frequently cleaned using EPA registered disinfectants as recommended by the CDC and in strict compliance with GBAC protocols.

Q. How will catering operate?
A. MBCC food and beverage service providers Centerplate is also coordinating globally to manage the impact of COVID-19 to protect employees, clients and consumers. Centerplate’s existing rules for food safety, personal hygiene and infection control are rigorously followed in order to minimize the risk of this, or any other virus spreading.

Q. Are there any other initiatives that our attendees should be aware of?
A. The MBCC is employing touch-free surfaces in our restrooms including automatically flushing toilets, hands-free faucets, paper towel dispensers and hand dryers. We’ve also installed additional digital and physical, portable and permanent health advisory signage throughout the venue. Find more information here
