Cunard highlighted its new partnership with the Circa Contemporary Circus during Queen Elizabeth's call to Sydney on Saturday.

Travel partners and media attended a preview performance in the Royal Court Theatre and were hosted at a special lunch in The Verandah.

Ann Sherry welcomed guests

Welcoming guests, Carnival Australia special adviser Ann Sherry said it was Cunard’s first event in Sydney in three years.

The Sydney Opera House, in full view of Queen Elizabeth docked at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Sydney Cove, made a fitting backdrop for the speech by Circa Chairman Michael Lynch.

Respected brand

Lynch, an Australian arts administrator who is a former director of the Sydney Opera House, said Circa was delighted to have a ‘really special partnership with such a respected brand.’

He said Circa, founded in Brisbane, Queensland, has toured the world since 2004, performing in more than 40 countries.

The company, which is ‘pioneering how extreme physicality can create powerful and moving performances,’ will entertain onboard Queen Elizabeth before she departs Australia on March 7 after a record 121 days homeported in Sydney and Melbourne.
