Promoting a positive vaccination message, creating awareness of the benefits of being vaccinated and encouraging people who work in the cruise tourism sector to get the jab is the goal of the 'Vaccinate to Participate' program.

Encouraging all frontline workers

As the territory gears up to accept its first fully vaccinated passenger ship, Clive McCoy, director of tourism, said 'We're encouraging all frontline tourism workers such as tour guides, tour operators, taxi drivers and hospitality workers to get vaccinated.'

'Going back to the pre-pandemic cruise levels is an objective for the BVIPA,' said Oleanvine Maynard, managing director of the British Virgin Islands Ports Authority. 'We want all local businesses to have the opportunity to participate in this industry and therefore we need to get vaccinated. It's as simple as that.'

'Reboot, reopen, revive'

'To help reboot, reopen and revive our tourism economy, the healthy return to cruise depends on all of us to do our part,' added Vance Lewis, CEO, Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park.

'Vaccinate to Participate' encourages people to protect themselves, their families, coworkers, the community and cruise visitors while fostering the cruise tourism sector's revitalization.
