Carnival's Camp Ocean welcomes vaccinated kids
Carnival Cruise Line reopened Camp Ocean, its supervised children’s program, to fully vaccinated children ages 5 to 11 for the first time since its ships resumed service.
To ensure the health and safety of young cruisers, Carnival implemented enhanced protocols for Camp Ocean that are consistent with other procedures, including required face masks, limited capacity, encouraged physical distancing, twice daily deep cleanings of the spaces and one-parent-per-family drop-offs and pick-ups. Activities will be adjusted as needed to meet these guidelines.
In addition to Camp Ocean, Circle 'C' and Club O2 have been and will continue to be open for vaccinated early teens ages 12 to 14 and for vaccinated teens ages 15 to 17, respectively.
Cruise passengers may visit St. Kitts attractions by showing proof of vaccination
St. Kitts eases restrictions
Vaccinated cruise passengers may now fully integrate ('Free Flow') when arriving to St. Kitts and Nevis. The federation requires vaccination for ages 12 and older, exempting children under 12 traveling with fully vaccinated parents or guardians.
'The end of our Vacation in Place (quarantine) protocol for air travelers and (new) Free Flow for cruise passengers are major achievements in our phased approach to tourism recovery in the COVID-19 pandemic,' said Lindsay F.P. Grant, minister of tourism, transport and ports. 'We will maintain all tourism protocols through Travel Approved Certification for both air and cruise passengers. All stakeholders must be vaccinated to operate Travel Approved taxi/tours, attractions, excursions, restaurants, bars or provide vendor services such as hair braiding.'
Travelers must continue to show proof of vaccination to visit attractions or book tours.
The following attractions are now accessible with proof of vaccination: Brimstone Hill Fortress and National Park, Carambola Beach Club, Caribelle Batik, Fairview Great House, Palms Court Gardens, Port Zante including vendors from Amina Craft Market and Black Rocks, St. Kitts Scenic Railway, Vibes Beach Bar, Reggae Beach and Spice Mill.
Travel requirements continue to include the submission of a negative PCR test 72 hours prior to arrival.
Hamburg's Steinwerder uses Steripower UV disinfection
Steinwerder Cruise Center is now able to disinfect up to 1,200 piece of luggage in an hour thanks to the newly installed Steripower device harnessing UV technology.
'The Port of Hamburg is one of the first ports in the world to use the device. We are pleased that with this innovative luggage disinfection unit in Steinwerder we can expand our already extensive hygiene concepts and provide even better protection,' said Simone Maraschi, managing director of Cruise Gate Hamburg, operator of the Hamburg cruise terminals.
'Protection against viruses and bacteria has become even more important as a result of the pandemic,' said Arno Ahrens, sales director - cruise, Steripower. 'We have responded to the increased requests from national and international shipping companies and ports as well as terminal operators in recent months and developed the sanitizer for luggage and pallets, which works based on UV technology.'
The Steripower device won Hygiene Product of the Year at the Seatrade Cruise Awards 2021.
