Effective today, the government removed restrictions that have been in place for almost two years. Now North Americans can travel in Norway as long as they present a negative COVID-19 test taken 24 hours before departing for the country, complete an entry pre-registration form and a test on arrival, either at the airport or within the first 24 hours.

Prior to this, even vaccinated North Americans were not allowed to enter Norway without quarantining for 10 days.

Norwegian Coastal Express and expedition ships

Hurtigruten said it is looking forward to welcoming North Americans on its Norwegian Coastal Express, where a six-day cruise from Kirkenes to Bergen is priced starting at $1,752, and on its expedition ships.

The 15-day 'Northern Lights and Fjords Expedition' from Dover, UK, which focuses on the aurora borealis, is available this winter and spring, and in the 2022/23 winter season. Hurtigruten offers the 'Northern Lights Promise' on select voyages.

Between April and September, the company operates 15-day summer expedition cruises from Hamburg, Germany.

'Book with Confidence' policy

North Americans who book either Hurtigruten Norwegian Coastal Express or Hurtigruten Expeditions before March 31 for sailings before Sept. 30 this year are automatically covered by Hurtigruten’s 'Book with Confidence' policy.
