NCL's Walk for Wellness raises £15,000 for charities

Norwegian Cruise Line will donate £15,000 to charities Abta Lifeline and ITAA Benevolent Fund after hitting its ultimate Walk for Wellness fundraising milestone – two weeks earlier than expected.

Walk for Wellness, NCL’s first UK health and wellness walking initiative, saw 1.2k of the line’s partners pass the 40k mile mark on Thursday.

It was originally estimated that 750 agents would sign up for the month-long campaign.

No plans to stop

To celebrate, Gary Anslow, NCL’s VP UK and Ireland, hosted a 60-person team walk around Southampton’s parks. He said, ‘We are delighted by the overwhelming response to the Walk for Wellness campaign, we’re thrilled that we’ve achieved what we set out to do – get everyone walking, increase awareness on the importance of the link between mental health and fitness and raise money for two charities who directly benefit those working in our beloved travel industry.’

Despite hitting the final milestone, the walkers have no plans to stop.

Anslow added, ‘While we’ve reached the ultimate goal, there are still mini challenges for the remainder of the month – we have added an extra four cruises on Norwegian Aqua as prizes, as well as NCL merchandise and wellbeing vouchers…’
