Nicole, expected to become hurricane, impacts some Florida cruises

Tropical Storm Nicole, expected to become a hurricane on Wednesday, is impacting some Florida-based cruises.

A hurricane warning is in effect for parts of the northwestern Bahamas, including the Abacos, Berry Islands, Bimini and Grand Bahama Island and from Boca Raton to the Flagler-Volusia county line. Volusia is the county north of Brevard, where Port Canaveral is located.

The Port of Jacksonville and Port Canaveral were both ordered to Port Condition Yankee on Tuesday, with sustained gale force winds expected within 24 hours. The US Coast Guard Captain of the Port was expected to set Port Condition Zulu (gale force winds within 12 hours) for JAXPORT at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Six Royal Caribbean sailings

Royal Caribbean International is adusting routes for six ships: the Nov. 7  cruises of Mariner of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas and Independence of the Seas, the Nov. 6 sailing of Anthem of the Seas and Enchantment of the Seas' cruise, which embarked Nov. 3.

The specific changes were not immediately available on Tuesday.

Two Carnival cruises

Port Canaveral-based Carnival Liberty, on a four-day trip that sailed Monday, spent Tuesday at sea instead of calling Nassau and on Wednesday will visit Cozumel instead of Princess Cays in the Bahamas.

Carnival Elation's five-day cruise that embarked at Jacksonvlle on Saturday substituted Freeport for Princess Cays on Tuesday.

Disney Cruise Line said it is making operational adjustments but didn't share specifics on Tuesday.
