Jeff Bent, managing director, Worldwide Cruise Terminals, which operates the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, said nothing is currently posted about international cruising.
Cruises to nowhere are allowed
As earlier reported, there is a published written policy stating under what conditions cruises to nowhere may operate.
Silversea plans calls in January
Silversea Cruises on Wednesday confirmed an Asia season with four ships, starting in December. Silversea's first scheduled Hong Kong calls are in January.
Private assurances
Bent told Seatrade Cruise News he understands the government is giving individual cruise lines private assurances that their 2023 calls may proceed, with passengers and crew arriving by ship to be treated similarly to those arriving by air.
'Some details are still being worked out,' Bent said, 'and we hope that the new policies are made fully transparent and published promptly, to engender greater confidence among the cruise lines and the wider cruise community.'
He added: 'We welcome and look forward to further news of the HKSAR government lifting restrictions on the cruise industry.'
