Australian-founded company
‘We are deeply saddened by the devastating bushfires in many parts of Australia, and the significant impact it is having on individuals, local communities and our native wildlife,’ said Glen Moroney, owner of Scenic Group. ‘As an Australian-founded company, we are committed to supporting the outstanding work of the many emergency services personnel, community services staff, volunteer fire fighters and animal welfare organizations.’
Moroney added Scenic’s donation will provide financial support to a range of charities and organizations that are providing support to the many people, communities and wildlife affected.
The donation will be allocated to several charities and state organizations, including the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Appeal, the Salvation Army Emergency Services; state, country and rural rire services and WIRES.
Rising number of cruise-related donors
Scenic’s support layers on aid provided by several cruise companies and figures, including Carnival Corp. & plc and its Carnival Australia brands, the Micky and Madeleine Arison Family Foundation, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings and, most recently, Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.
Fred. Olsen passengers, crew and staff
Fred. Olsen passengers, staff and crew raised £5,000 to support relief efforts in Kangaroo Island. The line’s Boudicca called at a number of Australian destinations as part of its ongoing 168-night ‘Grand Voyage.’ Those included Kangaroo Island just days before the fires struck.
Passengers and crew united to organize a fundraising event on deck with a number of stalls and games and a performance by the Boudicca Orchestra. In addition, a silent auction was held, with the whole event generating more than £3,500.
The fundraising continued at the company’s head office last week where employees from Fred. Olsen Ltd and Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines held a dress down day, bake sale and a raffle, taking the total raised to £5,000.
