The ship was manned with 59 foreign crew when it arrived in Shenzhen. They passed the quarantine and tested negative. Chinese crew were to join.

Viking Sun will be renamed as it becomes the first oceangoing cruise ship under China Merchants Viking Cruises.

Three homeports

Viking Chairman Torstein Hagen said the company plans three itineraries, with sailings from Shenzhen, Shanghai and Tianjin.

Health protocols under development

Currently, China Merchants Viking Cruises is working with international and Chinese medical experts and professionals from China Classification Society to draw up a plan for passenger healthy and safety.
