Lufthansa pilots announce industrial action; Seatrade Europe delegates may be affected

The strike will affect long-haul flights departing from Germany between 08:00 hrs and 23:59 on Tuesday, and already today and tomorrow long hual flights to Germany from Seattle, Houston and New York have been amongst those cancelled. As the Seatrade Europe Cruise & River Cruise Convention is due to start in Hamburg on Wednesday, Cockpit's action may potentially affect participants travelling to the event.

Lufthansa says it has prepared well for the strike, deploying among others pilots which are not member of Vereinigung Cockpit. The airline says it will  be able to offer 90 scheduled long-haul passengers flights on Tuesday, against so far 84 cancellations. Cargo flights will be operated as planned. Lufthansa-affiliates Germanwings and Eurowings are not going to be affected.

The airline is requesting passengers consult its website for information about a possible cancellation of their flight as soon as possible. Passengers affected by the strike may also be rebooked to services of other airlines, resulting in changed flight times.
