One of the hottest topics at this year’s Seatrade Cruise Asia Pacific conference taking place at the JW Marriott Hotel in Hong Kong, October 24-26, is Asia's cruise comeback and in a two-part session, 'Prospects and Recent Developments for the Resurgence of Cruise in Asia,' participants will hear from an array of regional experts.

Michael Goh, president, Resorts World Cruises, Zinan Liu, SVP & chairman, Royal Caribbean Group & Royal Caribbean Cruises, Asia, Sally Riu, general manager-cruise development, Lion Travel, Akira Shimizu, CCO and board member, MOL Cruises from Japan, Angie Stephen, VP & managing director, Asia Pacific, Royal Caribbean International; and Kenneth Wong, general manager, MICE & cruise, Hong Kong Tourism Board, will be among those speaking.

Spanning both days of the conference and led/moderated by Ted Blamey, principal, CHART Management Consultants, Part 1 homes in on East Asia, offering the latest updates and outlook on deployment, capacity, calls and source markets in the region, where part 2 will focus on South and South East Asia.

The first day of the conference October 25, features a top executive opening keynote and also provides attendees with the opportunity to hear first-hand, from Joel Katz, managing director, CLIA Australasia, on the latest Global Sustainability Update, to discover where Asian sustainability aspirations converge with global standards.

Navigating challenges

The second day of the conference will kick off with important conversations about the future of cruising in Asia, led by ‘Regional Co-operation: Navigating Challenges & Unity,' which will welcome to the stage regional stakeholders, Tiger Yong, government affairs, MSC Group, and Wendy Yamazaki, regional VP, government relations, Asia, Royal Caribbean Group, and Dickson Chin, managing director, Wallem Ship Agency — to name a few — in conversation with members of Asia Cruise Cooperation and Greater Bay Area, to discuss the impact of interwoven international dynamics and hear from regional representatives about some of the strides that have already been taken to facilitate greater regional co-operation, and fostering closer ties.

The Cruise Welcome Ashore session about delivering memorable experiences of Asia to cruise guests delves into crafting unforgettable first impressions for cruise guests, exploring the nuances that make a memorable impression and features Errol Chicano, commercial manager Asia Pacific & Indian Ocean, Intercruises; Alvin Materi, director, Cruise Asia by Destination Asia; Maria Tauschke, head of shore operations, destinations, TUI Cruises; and Julieanne Yee, managing director, NaviAsia Singapore.
