New cruise lines describe their product at Seatrade Cruise Med
The ‘New Players in the Med’ session at Seatrade Cruise Med (September 11-12) saw executives from three new cruise lines – Orient Express Silenseas, Alma Cruises and Neonyx Cruises – describe their product.
Sacha Rougier, VP itinerary planning & destination experience at Orient Express Silenseas, said the cruise line plans to create ‘iconic travel experiences.’ Age or demographics will not determine who sails with the brand, ‘but the love of art, culture and discovery.’
The 108-passenger sailing ship will comprise ultra luxury services from Accor, and provide personal shopping experiences and cuisine from Michelin starred chefs. Alluding to the vessel’s unique design and artisanal features, she added, ‘I’ve seen a lot of ships but I’ve never seen anything like this.
‘We’re not competing with anyone, like Four Seasons… this is so different.’
The session, sponsored by Forbes Travel Guide, took place on the second and final day of Seatrade Cruise Med at the Trade Fairs & Congress Center of Málaga, Spain. It saw Pedro Costa, co-founder & VP, Alma Cruises share details of the Spanish boutique cruise line ‘created for Spanish and spanish-speaking people.’ He said the experience is ‘like you’re in Spain’ - from its gastronomy to on board activities. Alma will also include Spain in its itineraries.
Annalisa Salvadori, VP sales & marketing at Neonyx Cruises, described the concept behind the edgy all inclusive Greek cruise line, calling at Mykonos, Çeşme in Turkey, Piraeus and Athens, and where international DJs will feature on every cruise. ‘Our concept is based on the fact that, unlike the others [cruise lines] we don't only celebrate the day, but we celebrate the night – especially the night.
‘We were born in Greece and in Greek mythology, Nyx is the goddess of the night.’
Neonyx will run three- and four-day cruises in the Aegean Sea targeting a ‘younger, dynamic, energetic’ crowd. ‘When the sun sets, the party will start… We want to become the number one, party-cruise experience in the Aegean,’ Salvadori added.
