Seatrade Cruise Global 2.0 Power Week continues, with a focus on the European cruise industry on the agenda for later today, followed by health and safety and entertainment sessions later this week.
October 13 - Europe, the Mediterranean and adjoining seas
Europe, the Med and adjoining seas go under the spotlight, starting with ‘Taking a temperature check of European cruising,’ with CLIA Europe Director General Ukko Metsola, who shares his insight with Seatrade Cruise Group Portfolio Director Mary Bond.
The ‘State of the European Cruise Industry CEO Spotlight’ session follows, exploring the journey European markets have made so far, lessons learnt and what lies ahead. Speakers include: Roberto Martinoli, CEO, Silversea Cruises; Wybcke Maier, CEO, TUI Cruises; Gianni Onorato, CEO, MSC Cruises and Chris Theophilides, CEO, Celestyal Cruises.
Nigel Lingard, Cruise Industry Management Consultant interviews Laura Cimaglia, VP, Director of Ports, Cities and Destinations, MedCruise and Rebekah Keeler, Head of Cruise, ABP Southampton & Council Member, Cruise Europe in ‘MedCruise and Cruise Europe Update: Regional Sustainability and Restart Developments, ’ on key infrastructure developments, while Cruise Saudi Chief Strategy Officer Ghassan Khan talks significant infrastructure developments in a fireside chat.
Thursday 14 - Health & Safety
‘Biometric Technology: Transformations in Access Control and Safety’ starts the day, as panelists take a behind the scenes look at biometric tech powering a safer and more efficient passenger experience. Participating are: AJ Naddell, Imageware; Greg Ruhl, president, Security Identification Systems Corporation; Diane Sabatino, deputy executive assistant commissioner, office of field operations, U.S. customs and border protection (CBP) and Teresa Wu, VP product management, IDEMIA Identity & Security North America, with Barr Turner, senior technical advisor, Cruise Lines International Association’s (CLIA) moderating.
Thursday also sees TraceSafe’s Susanne MacKillop, VP Sales look at contact tracing, while Gustavo Berenblum and Claudia Busch, co-founders and principles of Berenblum Busch Architects – together with Jonathan Ruiz, director of construction, destination development at Royal Caribbean Group – take an in depth view of Port Miami’s Cruise Terminal F, seeing how ports and cruise lines can adapt in ‘Modernizing Cruise Facilities to Accommodate Larger Ships, Latest Operations and Post-Covid Requirements.’
Friday 15 - Entertainment, Storytelling & Experience
A major player facing the cruise industry today is the role of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI.) Opening with the ‘Diversity and Inclusion with Onboard Entertainment’ session, panelists explore how the cruise industry is continuing to undergo a major renaissance in this area, bringing the experience of RWS Entertainment Group and Binder Casting CEO Ryan Stana.
Stana goes on to interview Ken Muscat, EVP & COO North America, MSC Cruises and Chris Nelson, senior VP Entertainment, Carnival Cruise Line in ‘Entertainment is Back Now What - Talking Through the Obstacles,’ as each share the set of protocols used in recreating entertainment at sea in the post-pandemic era.
Later in the day, Erin Evans, travel managing editor, U.S. News & World Report delivers ‘U.S. News Presents: A Compelling Survey on COVID-19 Concerns, Cruiser Optimism,’ followed by ‘Regenerative Travel - The New Luxury,’ where participants open up on how COVID-19 has driven self-reflection, contributing to the privilege of generosity. Tal Danai, Founder and CEO, ARTLINK moderates, joined by SaschaLang, VP, Architectural & Design, New Build and Innovation, Royal Caribbean Group and Barbara Muckermann, CCO, Silversea Cruises.
‘Crumpled Red Butterfly - Storytelling and Memorable Experiences,’ which looks at narrative-based experiences, brings the day to a close.
