Albatros Expeditions joined Cruise Lines International Association Australasia as a regional cruise line to highlight its presence in Australia and New Zealand.

The family-owned Danish company with headquarters in Copenhagen operates X-BOW expedition ships Ocean Victory and Ocean Albatros.

As reported here, it appointed Craig Upshall as its UK-based sales director EMEA, Australia and New Zealand in July.

Upshall had been based in Doha for Qatar Tourism since 2021. Prior to that he was Aurora Expeditions’ sales director UK/Europe.

Crucial role

‘Albatros Expeditions is excited to join CLIA, recognising the crucial role that trade engagement and travel agents play in shaping the future of the cruise industry,’ Upshall said.

‘We look forward to collaborating and contributing to its growth and innovation,’ he said.

Growing interest

CLIA Australasia MD Joel Katz said the addition of Albatros Expeditions to CLIA’s membership highlights the growing interest in expedition cruising.

‘Expedition cruising is one of the most dynamic and exciting areas of cruising and we’re delighted to have Albatros Expeditions join our community at such a time of innovation and development in this sector,’ Katz said.
