Sylvia Earle features Aurora Expeditions' signature teal colour
Aurora Expeditions’ global head of marketing, Victoria Primrose, confirmed the company’s second purpose-built ship, Sylvia Earle, is on schedule for delivery in October 2021.

Despite challenges

‘We are thrilled that the build is on time, despite the challenges the world has faced in 2020,’ Primrose said.

‘The bold design and use of our strong signature teal colour will make Sylvia Earle instantly recognisable as an Aurora Expeditions ship.'

Like sister ship Greg Mortimer, Sylvia Earle has the patented Ulstein X-BOW for better seakeeping and reduced fuel consumption, along with Rolls-Royce dynamic stabilisers.

X-BOW lounge

Sylvia Earle’s X-BOW will feature a two-level glass-lined lounge, offering uninterrupted views from the front of the ship.

Renowned US marine biologist, oceanographer and explorer Dr Sylvia Earle, 85, is actively involved in the development of her namesake.

The vessel is part of a series commissioned by SunStone Ships and being built at China Merchants Heavy Industry.
