A team from UpSchool, which also has partnerships with the United Nations Association of Australia, the Jane Goodall Institute and Australian graphic design studio Canva, will board Aurora’s Greg Mortimer in Oslo June 29 for the 12-day ‘Svalbard Archipelago’ voyage to Longyearbyen, Norway.

During what will be endless daylight, the ship will venture close to 80 degrees north looking for polar bears on the pack ice, with the chance to also see other Arctic wildlife including walrus, seals, reindeer, Arctic fox, whales and seabirds.

30,000 students

The result will be a new educational course to be used by more than 1,000 teachers in 110 countries with around 30,000 students.

‘We are proud to be partnering with UpSchool on this incredible project that will help to raise awareness of the pivotal importance of the Arctic to the health of our planet,’ CEO Michael Heath said.

Creating ambassadors

‘Enrichment, education, deepening connections to the remote regions we visit and creating ambassadors for the protection of the environment is of huge importance to our company and this partnership is one of many actions we are taking as part of a far-reaching sustainability in action plan,’ Heath said.
