Aurora founder Greg Mortimer to lead Arctic expedition in his namesake
Australian adventurer Greg Mortimer, the founder of Aurora Expeditions, will be expedition leader aboard his namesake, the 126-passenger Greg Mortimer, on a 15-day ‘Across the Arctic Circle’ voyage from Scotland to Norway next year.
The polar ship will depart Aberdeen on May 16 and sail to Orkney and Shetland Islands, travelling along the Norwegian coast to the frozen wilderness of Bear Island and Svalbard, before arriving at Longyearbyen on May 30.
Exquisite Arctic light
‘I can’t wait to bathe in that exquisite Arctic light once again,’ Mortimer said.
‘This time it will be even more surreal, being on a ship with my own name on it.’
‘We are thrilled Greg is to lead this fascinating Arctic journey,’ Aurora Expeditions CEO Michael Heath said.
Enlightening experience
‘His exploring and guiding expertise, gleaned over three decades, will be an enlightening experience and highlight many a little-known treasure, inlet and wildlife experience for his fellow expeditioners,’ Heath said.
