Launched in April 2023, the Expedition Cruise Network has 28 expedition cruise line members.
Bark EUROPA is the latest cruise operator to join the Expedition Cruise Network.
The Bark EUROPA three-masted tall ship was originally built in 1911, then rebuilt in 1986.
The vessel takes passengers across the world, to remote islands, cities and on expeditions to Antarctica, following the favourable winds of traditional sailing routes.
Bark EUROPA’s recently announced 2025 Cape-to-Cape expedition from Ushuaia, Argentina – featuring Antarctica, South Georgia, and Tristan da Cunha – sees the vessel sail 5,600 nmi over 57 days.
Bark Europa also takes part in tall ship racing and is a research and training vessel.
Meaningful discussions
‘Joining the Expedition Cruise Network as a member is a great new chapter for Bark EUROPA,’ said Bark EUROPA director, Leentje Toering.
‘We are excited to be part of a community that shares our passion for exploration, sustainability and connecting people with the wonders of our planet. We look forward to contributing to meaningful discussions within the network, creating connections that inspire and embarking on new adventures together.’
Atmosphere of a bygone era
Akvile Marozaite, ECN’S CEO and co-founder, added, ‘We are excited to welcome the first tall ship to the Expedition Cruise Network. Bark EUROPA offers adventure and a total immersion into nature, providing customers with a true taste of exploration from a former era. This is an incredible addition to the membership.’
