Crystal Endeavour was to have sailed the Great Barrier Reef and a series of New Zealand voyages
The delayed debut of Crystal Cruises’ first polar-class expedition yacht Crystal Endeavor has put her Australasian season on hold.

As earlier reported, delivery is set back by 'about a year.'

Great Barrier Reef cruise

The 200-passenger all-verandah-suite ship, under construction at Germany's MV Werften, was to have sailed from Bali on October 15 to Cairns. On October 31 she was due to continue on a 14-night ‘Australian Offshore and the Great Barrier Reef’ voyage to Sydney.

New Zealand voyages

A series of New Zealand voyages from Sydney on November 14 were planned.

Construction slowdown

‘Crystal Endeavor will be delayed until 2021 due to construction slowdowns across Europe as the Continent battles the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic,’ Brigita Devries, VP sales and marketing Australia and New Zealand for Genting Cruise Lines, told Seatrade Cruise News.

‘We were excited as to the prospect of her arriving Down Under later this year,’ Devries said.

‘At this point, we have not yet announced a delivery date for the new ship or which itinerary she will take part as her inaugural sailing.’

Recently, the Genting Hong Kong-owned MV Werften got a €193m loan from Germany to resume production.
