10-year programme
For the past 10 years, AHT has operated an ‘Inspiring Explorers’ programme for young people aged between 18 and 35 to experience some of the earth’s most extreme polar environments.
‘This is the first time we have taken a group of young explorers to visit the historic huts and the opportunity to step inside them will see the "Inspiring Explorers" intimately connected with the legacy of Antarctica’s early explorers, not just through stories, but by experiencing the very landscapes that challenged and inspired them,’ AHT Executive Director Francesca Eathorne said.
Proud support
Heritage Expeditions Commercial Director and expedition leader Aaron Russ said the company is proud to extend its support to longtime friends Antarctic Heritage Trust.
‘We are looking forward to sharing this incredibly special remote part of the world with the lucky "Inspiring Explorers" and can’t wait to welcome the Ross Sea’s next generation of custodians and ambassadors on board for an unforgettable voyage of a lifetime into the heart of Antarctica,’ Russ said.
Inspiring others
AHT is inviting New Zealanders and Australians to apply if they ‘desire to inspire others to explore through their participation in the expedition’ and to complete an agreed outreach programme.
AHT will meet costs for the expedition cruise, guides and return economy class air travel from the successful candidates’ places of residence.
They must make a financial contribution of NZ$2,000 to the enterprise.
