He will share his knowledge of photography, as well as talk about his projects and expeditions to some of the world’s most remote and unique places, during the 10-day voyage aboard Quest.

Trips on water by Zodiac will be combined with landings and hikes to explore nature up close, with good opportunities to explore the seldom visited eastern parts of the archipelago.

‘...It’s undoubtedly one of my favourite places on earth,’ said Klum of Svalbard. ‘I’m looking forward to being a part of this PolarQuest adventure and to sharing unique experiences with my fellow travellers.’

Klum is renowned for portraying animals, plants, and natural and cultural settings in the form of articles, books, films, lectures and exhibitions. His work has been featured in many international publications, including 13 cover images for National Geographic Magazine.

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden granted Klum the medal of the 8th grade for his important contributions as a nature photographer.

The photographer is an ambassador for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), serves as a member of the Board of Trustees at WWF Sweden, and in 2013, he was awarded an honorary doctorate in natural sciences by Stockholm University.

‘A photographer’s dream’

PolarQuest’s head of marketing Emma Nilsson described Klum joining the cruise as an ‘honour,’ stating that it adds ‘extra value to the adventure.’ She said, ‘Late August is a magical time to visit Svalbard. The sun is getting closer and closer to the horizon, giving us a warm light, perfect for photography.

‘In addition, the diverse landscapes, the glistering glaciers and the iconic wildlife including whales, walruses and polar bears, make Svalbard a photographer’s dream.’

She asserted that the sailing is not exclusively for photographers, but ‘perfect for anyone who has a keen interest in nature and wildlife.’
