Polar Routes, a British polar expedition cruise specialist, is chartering 53-passenger Polar Pioneer for a 23-day Antarctic sailing.

The small, newly refurbished expedition ship will cruise between January 21 and February 12, 2025 exploring the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands.

Elephant Island

Passengers will be able to follow in the footsteps of explorer Ernest Shackleton to Elephant Island, located in the outer reaches of the South Shetland Islands.

Broadcaster, environmental historian and award-winning author with extensive polar experience, Dr Huw Lewis-Jones will lead the group and, with five Zodiacs on board, every full expedition day will have two extensive off-ship excursions (weather permitting).

Lewis-Jones said: ‘Every trip to Antarctica is an unbelievable privilege.’

Polar Routes founder Martin Johnson is chairman of the recently formed Expedition Cruise Network.
